Mountlake Terrace

Mountlake Terrace is a suburban city in Snohomish County adjacent to Shoreline and Lynnwood. Mountlake Terrace was founded in 1949 by real estate developers on the site of a disused airfield, intending to provide low-cost housing for veterans. Within five years, the community had grown to over 5,000 people and was incorporated as a city in 1954 to provide municipal services. An industrial park was developed at the northwest corner of the city, which was connected by Interstate 5 after it opened in 1965.

Interesting Places To Visit:

Ballinger Park is a 55-acre park located along the shores of Lake Ballinger. The park has a boat launch, fishing pier, beach access, restroom facilities, barbecues, and picnic tables. There’s also large grassy areas, play fields for baseball and soccer, and a playground. The community clubhouse is available for rentals. It’s a beautiful place to spend a sunny summer day.

Mountlake Terrace Pavilion has a large indoor swimming pool that is open year-round. In addition to the main swimming pool, there’s also a shallow-water leisure pool, a lazy river, therapy pools, and a dry sauna. You can participate in swimming lessons or in open swim. It’s the perfect place to burn off energy and have fun. In addition to the swimming pool, the Pavilion also hosts fitness classes, dance classes, and community events.

The Interurban Trail is a 24-mile paved trail that winds through Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, and Everett. The Mountlake Terrace portion is about 1.6 miles. The trail extends north all the way through Everett and offers a pedestrian/biking connection through all of the cities. It is also becoming more popular as a commuting option for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Terrace Creek Park also known as "Candy Cane Park" is a 60-acre park that features paved and natural hiking trails, large play equipment, swings, gazebo, picnic tables, BBQs, an open grass field, and an eighteen hole disc golf course. The one-mile partially wooded trail begins at the concrete sidewalk near the play area or at the forested end of the park.
